‘Pros & Con’s of a “First Look”

Despite the old adage that its bad luck for the wedding couple to see each other prior to their wedding ceremony, the ‘first look’ is becoming increasingly more popular.  In case you aren’t familiar with the term, a first look is an exclusive moment between the wedding couple wherein they see each other for the first time before the ceremony.    While we here at Ahnvee Photography strongly suggest having a first look for the various advantages detailed below, we’ve also taken the time to consider the flip side of that coin and provide you with the reasons that couples decide against this option. A surprising number of couples who decide against a first look cite the medieval fear of bringing bad luck to their union.  However, in our experience, we’ve found that majority of these couples cannot accurately describe the origin of this superstition, nor why it came to be.  No worries, because we have done our research in hopes of dispelling this ancient myth! Wedding : Elise & Jared

Intimate Backyard Wedding Elise and Jared’s non-traditional, intimate backyard wedding was every candid-style wedding photographer’s dream wedding. A small gathering of family and friends witnessed the couple exchange their vows. These were original vows written by the bride and groom themselves, which left the entire crowd with tear-struck faces, including myself. From ugly-crying behind the camera to crying while editing, I couldn’t hold back the emotions brought on by witnessing such a genuine connection between two individuals. The couple’s romantic color selection of blushes and pastels emphasized the intimacy of the ceremony. The light color scheme contrasted beautifully against the dark greenery of their backyard. The elegant-meets-rustic details of her blush-toned lace dress, bright hair, and flower crown perfectly reflected the bride’s unique attention to detail. The photojournalistic, candid shots tell the story of the sentimental, heartfelt moments shared between Elise, Jared, and their friends and family.   To see more of my wedding photography, click here: http://ahnveephotography.com/wedding/

Krislyn & Craig | In Home Couples Lifestyle Session | A Romantic Sunday Afternoon | Pineville, LA

Krislyn & Craig | An In Home Couples Lifestyle Session | A Romantic Sunday Afternoon | Pineville, LA When Krislyn contacted me, she proposed a challenge that I immediately accepted: she wanted updated photos of her and Craig, but with a unique and playful flair. Within minutes of meeting them, I knew this couple’s relationship was anything but average, and I love finding the beauty in the unordinary. We decided to capture their romance in the most organic way possible. Krislyn and Craig invited me to their home to document a typical Sunday afternoon. Krislyn and Craig enjoy cooking and baking, playing games, and spending time with each other. Sounds typical right? Well not when these two are together. The whole afternoon was spent competing with one another in the sweetest way possible. The day was full of fun and laughter and resulted in quite possibly the best couples session ever. Krislyn & Craig have been married for almost 2 years, but as these lifestyle photos prove, they’ve never lost touch with their high school romance. This is the kind of love you DON’T see in fairytales, and I’m thrilled to have captured that for them.
