Benefits of Having a 2nd Shooter/ Assistant

For many clients on a tight budget or those looking to allocate expenses elsewhere, the “cost” assumption is further expanded upon with the idea that a 2nd shooter or assistant is unnecessary.  While employing additional personnel may appear to add to the bottom line of your session, the presence of said personnel enables us to deliver so much more while retaining competitive pricing. If you’ve ever witnessed or participated in a photography session, or even taken a glimpse inside a photography studio, you may have noticed a lot more equipment than merely a photographer and his/her camera.  The equipment needed to adequately capture your priceless moments while adhering to Ahnvee’s strict quality standards will vary depending on your venue to the time of day, your clothing and/ or prop choices and everything in between.  Given the fact that photographers are expected to capture every detail, especially concerning wedding sessions (whose venues are VERY often dimly-lit), it is downright impossible to setup and relocate lighting, or utilize reflectors and diffusers (no, not the air fresheners 😁) without potentially missing a priceless moment.  And believe it or not, every moment of your event is incredibly important to us, priceless and otherwise!  Employing […]

Commercial Photography vs Portrait Photography

If you’re looking into photography to promote your business or service, you may be surprised to learn that pricing varies from that of a typical portrait session.  Not everyone understands how the processes differ, and as such, we’ve done our best to explain the fine points for those who will someday be requiring this service. What’s the difference between commercial photography and consumer photography? Consumer photos are taken for the client’s personal use, and individual prints are usually ordered from the photographer taking the photos.  Once consumers have purchased the prints of their choice, those prints will generally come with a print release that allows the consumer to print from their desired vendor, but this takes into consideration that the photos are not intended for mass-reproduction. The copyright to any images taken always remains with the photographer.  Essentially, the package price paid includes a license fee that enables the client to use the art that we create for them.  Being in possession of digital files or proofs does not give the client rights to reproduce them.  This is where the main differences between commercial and consumer photography come into play, because commercial images are specifically intended to be reproduced. Bridals: Danielle

They say good things happen to good people, and this was proven to be accurate when we were shooting Danielle’s bridals at Kisatchie National Forest in Bentley, Louisiana. This outdoorsy animal lover unexpectedly experienced the bridal session of her dreams. It was the day Ahnvee Photography officially met the Butterfly Garden Deer. Maybe he could smell the protein cookie I had in my camera bag, or maybe he just liked the classic rock we were listening to. Whatever the reason, we were pleasantly surprised to witness him slowly make his way towards the beautiful bride. We all instantly turned into pre-teens at a Justin Beiber concert when we saw him. (See video below) O H    D E E R We soon figured out that he favors the taste of babies breath, and Danielle didn’t think twice about destroying her bridal bouquet for the sweet deer. He followed us around like a puppy, and I just snapped away at the unbelievable sight happening right before me. The Butterfly Garden Deer has since graced many visitors with his presence. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and show him some love.
